Let the Good Times Roll

We're looking forward to our departure Wednesday for The Northland. We expect an unhurried trip with six overnight stops. This will be our fifth summer in Duluth. The enjoyment of those past years is what keeps us going back. We treasure the friendships made there. It seens like a second home. We'll be there until the middle of August. Our phone number is (218) 788-1554. Please keep in touch. Our Summer Home

Memorial Day

This day of remembrance is especially sad because the tragic and needless killing and maiming of soldiers and innocent civilians goes on endlessly. There is heroism and dedication of course and it is rightly commended. But where is the outrage for the crafted deceptions perpetrated on the gullible citizenry? This war has no legitimate justification.

Jane Returned

Jane returned last night from visiting her daughter in California where she had many good times. The three enlargable pictures here are of Jane & Kelly, the Rough and Ready Fruit Jar Pickers and at Jack London State Histroic Park, the ruins of Wolf House ---burned in 1913.

Looking Back

Although my favorite partner has been away, I still found rewarding entertainment. Let me catch up: Back on Friday the 11th I attended a wonderful comedy program at Bak Middle School of the Arts. They are amazingly skilled performers. Monday the 15th I squeezed in two things -- a showing of Puddle Jumpers of Lantana at 5:00 at The Palm Beach Post auditorium then at 7:30 was a world premier of Beyond the Gates by The New Vista Theatre Company at the Lake Worth Playhouse. On Tuesday the 15th was the Pathfinder Awards at the Kravis -- well done and always so emotional for me.

City Walk

It has been seven and a half years since Jane and I took over from Bill Halpin the leading of City Walk. It has been a good run for us which we've enjoyed very much. The time has come to pass the baton. We're hoping someone will step up and consider receiving that baton. It's fun and easy. After this Sunday there will likely be a summer hiatus.

Many of you will see yourselves in these pictures:

Mothers Day

The day after my mother's 41st birthday I was born. I never felt I was an unwelcome surprise. I regret not being easier for her and nicer to her. She always did the best she knew how and I always felt loved and much cared about. I was so lucky. She has been gone now for 16 years. I owe much to her for who I am. I wish everyone had as good a mother as mine. (click picture to enlarge.)

Jane's Gone

Jane flew off to California on Tuesday the 10th and will return on the 22nd. Last night I attended a comedy program presented by the Theatre Department at Bak Middle School of the Arts. I was thrilled and delighted to see how how advanced and skilled the young kids are. The school must be terrific. Tonight I attended a nice party hosted by Warren Resen. There were fourteen people there and more food than we could eat.

Fireworks & Movie

The Sunfest fireworks last night were delayed by weather but we had a good time with friends and enjoyed the fireworks, as always, from close to the barge near the Four Arts.
Tonight at Muvico we saw Waitress. It is a comedy about a pregnant, unhappily married waitress in the deep south who meets a newcomer to her town and falls into an unlikely relationship as a last attempt at happiness. We both enjoyed it. I recommend it but don't feel is a "must see." Fireworks Video

Busy Day

Yesterday was full with bicycling on Jupiter Island and then preparing for the party we hosted last night celebrating the May birthdays of Jerry, Pat, and Serena. We always enjoy having friends over. Everyone seemed to have a good time.

In keeping with what has become a tradition, we plan to attend the Sunfest fireworks tonight with friends. (bicycling video)

Spider - Man 3

Last night at Muvico we attended an advanced screening of Spider - Man 3. If it hadn't been free, I would have felt cheated. The special effects were impressive but my overall rating is C. The acting wasn't particularly strong or memorable. The others with me found it tedious and too long. I kept looking at my watch and squirming to find comfort.

New Movie

Last night at Muvico we attended a special screening (free) of the new movie, Lucky Me. It was about gambling and relationships -- especially between father and son. I found it entertaining and well made but not particularly important. Jane liked it better than I did. I'd give it a rating of B minus.
