Although I wasn't able to attend last night's meeting, I enjoyed seeing these pictures and hearing from Jane about the "goings-on." Shirley O'Connor hosted the February meeting.

Sunday City Walk
Our City Walk this month was a big loop from Toojay's in Palm Beach south across the middle bridge then north past the new Waterfront Park then east across the north bridge. It was a perfect day and a most enjoyable walk, so I was told. I was unable to participate because my sciatica is still bad. Jane led the walk by herself.

Celebrating the Life of Ann Barnes
Sunday evening Pat Barnes hosted a celebration of the life of her sister-in-law, Ann Barnes, who died in the Haiti earthquake. We all remember Ann with great fondness. She was working for the United Nations and stationed in Haiti. Newspaper Story
And Down She Goes
Sunday morning we went to the demolition of the 30 story condominium at 1515 South Flagler Drive. It was scheduled for 9:00 AM. We went across the lake in Palm Beach where there was a huge crowd. In just a few seconds the 39 story building was reduced to a 42 foot rubble pile. Video

Sciatica Surprise
Tuesday morning after I had been sitting at the computer for about an hour I tried to stand and found I was crippled with intense pain in my right hip. I hobbled into the living room and lay on the floor trying to stop the pain which was as intense as any kidney stone attack in my memory from years ago. Luckily I got an appointment that afternoon with my orthopedist. The pain pills he prescribed proved to be too weak so the next day Jane picked up some stronger ones that helped a little but made me dizzy and sleepy. It's now Friday and the pain has moved down to my knee and lower leg. After physical therapy this morning I'm feeling not much better but optimistic that I'll be back to normal in a few weeks.
