Jane and I returned this week from a pleasant cruise in the southern Caribbean.
It was good in many ways. The ports of call were all hot -- no surprise. Our main complaint is the overly loud sound in all the entertainment. The shows were good but not quite up to our expectations. The accommodations and service were excellent.

Return From Duluth

We arrived home yesterday from our twelfth annual pilgrimage/odyssey to "Summer Camp for Seniors" in Duluth which this year included Jane's reunion in Ashtabula. Our driving mileage was 5,790. It was immediately clear that we came home too soon; The heat-shock was greater than usual since the temps in Minnesota were colder than any previous years. We met many nice Evergreen hosts along our way. Their pictures are below.

Last night we watched the sailboats from Fitgers. This morning's hike was on the Two Harbors Lakewalk.

Nearing The End Of Our Summer Vacation

Yesterday, (7/26/2014) John and Chadda Shelly took Kathryn Schultz and Jane and me for a wonderful outing on a perfect day. We spent most of our time at Shovel Point in Tettegouche State Park.

Last evening we had our annual Vista Cruise on Lake Superior; and today on Bill Delboy's hike in Lester Park we had 39 on a perfect day.

Yesterday we had a group trip to Jay Cooke park. I took this picture from the suspension bridge.

                    The annual Dinner Dance was this evening.

We had 35 hikers along this morning's hike along the St. Louis River led by John and Chadda Shelly.

Sunday we went with John, & Chadda and Kathryn to Gooseberry for a wildflower hike and more.

Yesterday Jane and I went with John & Chadda Shelly to Silver Bay for an excellent tour of the taconite production facility there. Later we went to Bridgeman's for walleye dinners then to The Nordic Center.

Hartley Trail Hike

Don McCowen's hike today on the Hartley trails was enjoyed by 23 of us on a perfect day.

Visiting Lake Wobegon where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking and all the children are above average

Our holiday weekend in Saint Paul turned out very well. We had a nice visit with my nephew Frank and his family in Egan which luckily coincided with a visit by Cyd and Gail, my nieces from Montana.
Our attendance at the 40th anniversary of A Prairie Home Companion was thrilling and memorable.
