A Most Delightful Day

We didn't drive anywhere today. It has been a very long time since we stayed home all day (except for the morning walk). We'll be leaving Sunday for a week in Costa Rica. We look forward to the visit of our friends, Larry and Leslie Chlebeck, the following week. Then we must apply ourselves to the preparations for our summer trip.

Friends, Kathy, Diane, Carol, Fran, Dorothy, & Jane dined Saturday at the National Croquet Center following a game on the court.

Two Movies and a Play

Today we saw A Jew Grows in Brooklyn at the Cuillo Centre and I enjoyed it more than I expected. It was funny, poignant, and touching. The single performer was very talented. Last night we saw Leatherheads directed by George Clooney.-- a comedy about the beginnings of professional football. It was mildly entertaining but not important. We also, last night, attended a pre-screening of The Visitor -- a sensitive & thoughtful Film. I was very impressed with the acting and direction and rate it very high.

Polly & Bob Hosted Dinner

Polly and Bob hosted us with a delightful salmon dinner last night.

April Dining Out

Hosted by Helen Coffey, eight of us dined out this evening at Tiki Grill at the Rivera Beach marina.

We enjoyed our volunteer ushering Tuesday night at the Kravis for Camalot.

The annual Volunteer Salute at the Kravis Center was Monday evening.

Saturday Evening - Celebrating Again

Friends hosted Jane for her birthday at Tabica Grill in Jupiter.

History Museum & Concert

Friday we had lunch at Russo's then toured the new Palm Beach County History Museum. The icing on the cake was a musicale with The Yale Wiffenpoofs in Pan's Garden.

Jane's Birthday

Thursday we had dinner at The Station House in Lantana so Jane could have lobster and then we attended a production of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at Lake Worth Playhouse. The dinner was nice and we enjoyed the play. They did a good job with what, I felt, was mediocre material and a pedestrian score.

Getting caught up

Tuesday April fool's day at The Kravis was Simply Ballroom -- a beautiful show.
Thursday at the Paramount was the movie Love Me or Leave Me.Friday at the Rinker Theatre was comedian Lauren Weedman.

Last Friday's movie at the Four Arts was Avenue Montaigne also known as Fauteuils d'orchestre. I enjoyed it and recommend it in spite of my difficulty with subtitles. It is a French film about a TV star, a concert pianist, and a millionaire businessman, all of whom are dissatisfied with their lives.
Saturday we went to Okeeheelee Nature Center and heard a fascinating lecture on the Archaeology of Lake Okeechobee. Later we went to diner with Phoebe & Robert Dowdy.
Sunday: Read the paper.
Monday we volunteered at The Kravis for Neil Berg's 100 years of Hollywood.
Tuesday we both had dermatology appointments and in the evening went to Bob Lapin's Palm Beach Pops concert.
Wednesday Judy Jaksch hosted a picnic. Six of us, along with Midnight, the dog, had an enjoyable evening.

Dining Out and Movie Recommendation

Eight of us dined out last night at ZaZa Mediterranean Grill.
This evening we attended another movie at The Four Arts. I highly recommend Amazing Grace. It is an inspiring story based on a legendary historical British Member of Parliament, William Wilberforce. During the late 18th century and early 19th century, a very young Wilberforce is elected to Parliament and over the course of several decades leads the fight to ban slavery.

Four Movies in Two Days

Yesterday and today we've seen four movies. Here's my take:
Stop Loss is a sad and disturbing film about the Iraq war. I feel it is an important film and would recommend it but only for those who are prepared for its seriousness. Other's comments.
21 is about a team of very bright Harvard students who make a killing in Las Vegas casinos. It is very engaging and entertaining but unimportant. I recommend it. Other's comments.
Horton Hears a Who! is a light, very imaginative, and enjoyable film. It may not be important but I recommend it. Other's comments.
Many enjoyed Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day but I was somewhat disappointed with this insignificant and only mildly amusing comedy.

"Christ Is Risen."

Happy Easter! The stone is rolled away. Everyone's in church, Easter anthem, thrilling special music, arrays of lilies, new duds, colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, ham -- all fond but fading memories for this heathen. After biting the ears off the chocolate bunny, what's left? Eating all the rest -- and remorse.

We were delighted to have Steve and Carol visiting today from Merritt Island.

Historic Courthouse Opened

History was lost when in 1969 the historic 1916 Palm Beach County Courthouse was hidden from view and buried within a wraparound addition. Today, that historic structure was returned to the public by the grand opening of that restored courthouse. program cover - page 2 - page 3
