Celtic Woman

Tonight at the Kravis we enjoyed Celtic Woman - Songs from the Heart, an Irish musical show with dazzling high tech theatrical polish. My only complaint is it was overly loud.
Last night we enjoyed dinner and dancing at the annual Kravis Volunteer Salute with this year's theme, "Under the Sea." My complaint: what else? Music too loud.

How I Am

A few of you ask about my sciatica. The situation is I no longer experience any pain. That's the good news. The bad part is I still have a limp. I've come to realize the cause is something they call foot drop. If I walk three or four blocks, I tire and the limp becomes more pronounced. The diagnoses was mine and comes from Internet reading I've done. It seems to be accepted by my doctor. Yesterday I had my second epidural steroid injection. My first was 6 weeks ago. If the problem doesn't resolve itself soon, I'll probably have surgery.

Jane's Birthday Today

Since January 1, 1983 when I first met Jane, my life was changed forever. Although our life together hasn't always been cloudless, I feel lucky to have such a good wife and never have I had the slightest regret about our marriage decision on January 1, 1986.
Happy Birthday, Jane.

This 'N That

Pat Barnes told us about the Ford Model A Museum located at the old Twin City Mall. We went to see it and were delightfully surprised. There are fifty restored Model A cars and trucks. Admission is free. To find it, drive in the Publix parking lot then to the east to the old Twin City Mall. Look for the small green awning with the lettering Model A Museum. They aren't open every day so it might be best to phone 478-8655 and ask for Dennis.
Tuesday, we saw the documentary movie, The Art of the Steal, about the controversy surrounding the relocation of the Barnes Collection in Philadelphia. We liked it a lot and were glad to be introduced to the new Mosart Theatre on Park Avenue in Lake Park.
Friday afternoon we ushered at the Eissey Theater for Church Basement Ladies. Then, in the evening we ushered at the Kravis for guitarist Peppino D'Agostino who gave a most impressive performance.

"Christ Is Risen"

Happy Easter! The stone is rolled away. Everyone's in church, Easter anthem, thrilling special music, arrays of lilies, new duds, colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, ham -- all fond but fading memories for this heathen. After biting the ears off the chocolate bunny, what's left? Eating all the rest -- and remorse.
We enjoyed entertaining Bill Morgan and Carla Sheedy for dinner today.
Friday at The Four Arts we attended the movie Lemon Tree filmed mostly in Palestine and Israel in Arabic and Hebrew languages with English subtitles. Salma Zidane, a widow, lives simply from her grove of lemon trees in the West Bank's occupied territory. The Israeli defense minister and his wife move next door; the Secret Service orders the trees removed for security. This is an important film I recommend. I always have trouble with subtitles when there is such dense dialog but it's still worth it.
