We returned late Tuesday from our bus tour of Washington, DC. It was a little tiring but good. We were too late for the cherry blossoms but the redbuds and dogwoods were in their prime. It was surprisingly warm for April. We quickly viewed the popular sights we've seen a few times before. Our regrets are having only two days for seeing the city. One needs at least a week for Washington. We're always thankful for returning safely.

Leaving Washington
We leave hot crowded Washington tomorrow morning. We've had a good time. Our tour group has almost 100 people in two buses.

Terrific Show at the Kravis
We saw Fiddler on the Roof last night at the Kravis and I can report it was top notch in every regard. I don't see how the Broadway show could have been any better than this roadshow. It is a show not to be missed.
This morning we went to a memorial service for Barbara Gault at the Cohen Pavilion in the Kravis. It was attended by many in theater and arts who spoke humorously, movingly, and lovingly of Mrs. Gault.

"Christ Is Risen."
Happy Easter! The stone is rolled away. Everyone's in church, Easter anthem, thrilling special music, arrays of lilies, new duds, colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, ham -- all fond but fading memories for this heathen. After biting the ears off the chocolate bunny, what's left? Eating all the rest -- and remorse.

Jane's Birthday

We enjoyed Jane's birthday today by lunching at Taboo then attending a concert by The Yale Whiffenpoofs at Pan's Garden and then going to The Four Arts to view the movie "Flawless." We were pleased to meet Serena there.

Movie: BEFORE THE RAINS
Before the Rains is set in 1930s southern India. While his wife is away, the English planter has an affair with his beautiful Indian servant leading to tragedy and moral dilemmas. The casting and performances are superb. The cinematography is luscious. There is everything to like about this movie and I highly recommend it. I saw it today at The Four Arts.

Excellent film - THE COUNTERFEITERS
I found Die Fälscher (The Counterfeiters) well worth the trouble of reading the English subtitles. It's an excellent movie about the Nazi effort to counterfeit British and US money during WW II. I highly recommend this outstanding film. I saw it today at The Four Arts.

Saint Patrick's Day
Yesterday we went to the Saint Patrick's Day parade in Lake Worth.
Here's the PARADE VIDEO
Last night we volunteered at the Kravis for Legally Blonde: The Musical. It was well sold and seemed to be well received but I didn't care much for the show.
Jane left this morning for California to visit with her daughter, Kelly.

Two Movies - The Reader & GranTorino
We saw The Reader last night and Gran Torino tonight. Of the two, I preferred The Reader and highly recommend it. The many and prolonged sex scenes made me uncomfortable. It wouldn't have hurt the story to leave most of them out. It was an excellent and engaging story that took place in Germany after WWII and up to the present.
Gran Torino was also a good story but I felt the script and directing should have been better. Still, I recommend it.
Today for lunch we entertained Marcia & Ed Fee and Al Barash. Jane made hot chicken salad and lemon meringue pie. We enjoyed our guests and they seemed to have a good time.
