"To Everything There Is A Season...
...A time to weep and a time to laugh."
On this tearful day we remember that awful horror ten years ago. To all those who lost loved ones on that terrible day, I wish comfort and peace. The world and our society was changed on that day. I hope we will become more understanding, tolerant, and forgiving of each other. But I'm increasingly pessimistic.

We still aren't quite fully settled-in yet, but this week, in between medical/dental appointments, we managed to see the play, Greater Tuna, at Lake Worth Playhouse. We'd seen it years before and regard it as one of our favorites. They did a good job and we recommend it.
Last night at Muvico we attended a pre-screening of Contagion. It was okay and engaging with lot of action but not a "must-see."

Aerobics Class Collage
Pam Lyons, our aerobics instructor at UMD, photographed most of us in the class this summer and I took the liberty of editing her images and creating the collage below.
I hope you will enjoy it and share it with anyone who might be interested. I have too few email addresses so please forward it widely.
It may open to full size for you or only partially as it does on my laptop. A second click should open it fully.

We arrived safely home Monday afternoon feeling lucky to have had no major misadventures and to have met such nice Evergreen hosts along our route.
In Jane's hometown of Ashtabula, we were welcomed by Jane's longtime friend, June, who gave us her bed for five nights. In Atlanta we finally got to go to the world's largest aquarium.
We wish we could have stayed longer in Duluth.

Delightful to a Fault
On the shore of the largest lake in the world, the one hundred-and-fourteen-year-old Two Harbors City Band presents weekly concerts in the park. With a small-town charm reminiscent of Grandma Moses primitives, I found myself transported back to a simple, safer time when neighbors adored the unpolished performance of their neighbors. I sensed that band members of all ages were welcomed with little regard to their instrument or performance level. When even a C major scale of slow half-notes might seem a bit ragged, they tackled challenging music and delighted their friendly neighbors of a-couple-of-hundred seated on their folding chairs on the grass in the soft air of twilight. And even this unforgiving critic found delight in sitting close enough to hear the conductor call out measure numbers to the lost ones. I'll go again.

Show Business
Thursday evening we ushered for The Duluth Playhouse's production of Into The Woods. Jane and I both thought they did a very good job but she didn't enjoy the show as much as I did. We both had trouble understanding the lyrics and dialog. We had the same problem with The 39 Steps which we also enjoyed back in June. We've both been pleased with all the shows we've seen by this community theater.

Vista Cruise
Our annual Vista Cruise on the lake and in the harbor last night was most enjoyable because we went places we hadn't been before and the weather was mild.

I generally do not comment on the DVDs we watch but this one is a "must see."
You Don't Know Jack with Al Pacino is nearly perfect and enjoyable, if not for the subject and message, but certainly, for the splendid performances, writing, and directing. I found no fault with this film.
